Leading the Way in Technological Education

Howell Township School District is recognized as one of the Top 10 Digitally Advanced school districts in the nation by the Center for Digital Education and the National School Boards Association. Our commitment to integrating technology into education aims to enhance student achievement and bridge achievement gaps.

Embracing 21st Century Learning

In our rapidly evolving world, students must learn in contexts that are relevant and real-world, fostering collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills. These abilities are essential for thriving in a global society driven by modern technologies.

Technology Task Force: Shaping the Future

Our Technology Task Force, consisting of community members, teachers, administrators, support staff, students, and Board of Education members, was established to create a 21st-century learning environment. This environment develops responsible, self-directed learners prepared to compete in a global economy that demands innovation.

The task force identified essential knowledge and skills, researched successful 1:1 technology environments, and explored various technologies. Their recommendations have shaped our vision for a comprehensive digital conversion.

Engaging and Innovative Computer Curriculum

To support a dynamic 21st-century learning environment, our students receive formal Computer instruction tailored to their developmental stages. The curriculum includes:
  • Coding and Programming: Students learn to code using various tools and languages, such as Scratch, Python, and JavaScript.
  • Digital Literacy: Instruction on safe and responsible use of technology, online research skills, and understanding digital footprints.
  • Robotics and Automation: Hands-on projects involving robots and automated systems, fostering creativity and engineering skills.
  • Multimedia Creation: Skills in creating digital art, videos, and interactive presentations using modern software tools.

Technology Integration Across Grades

Students from kindergarten through eighth grade are each provided with their own devices, ensuring individual access to technology that enhances their learning experiences. Our seamless integration of technology across all grade levels enables students to collaborate on cloud-based learning management platforms, engage with multimedia resources, and develop critical digital literacy skills. Teachers leverage these technologies to create engaging, personalized learning environments that cater to the diverse needs of every student.

Digital Learning Tools

Teachers utilize advanced digital learning tools to make materials accessible and engaging. These tools encourage students to create, communicate, and collaborate in ways previously unimaginable.

Our digital learning management system customizes content for students, offering self-guided and self-paced courses, continuous assessment, progress monitoring, and personalized feedback.
